Bio

Jim is the Founder and CEO of Breyer Capital, a family office/venture capital firm based in Austin, TX, Menlo Park, CA, and New York, NY. As a lead investor and Director, many of his investments have returned well over 100 times their cost, and over a dozen more have returned well over 25 times their cost. Jim has served on the Board of Directors of Blackstone since 2016, He has previously served as an investor and/or lead Director at Dell, Etsy, Facebook, Circle Internet, Legendary Entertainment, Marvel Entertainment, Spotify, Wal-Mart, and 21st Century Fox as well as many others.

Over the past decade, Jim developed a deep personal and investment interest in AI, and he has made over 20 AI investments since 2015. Many of Jim’s investment interests have centered on collaborating and deepening ties with many of the world’s leading universities, including Stanford, Harvard, MIT, UCSF, the University of Texas at Austin, and is actively pursuing partnerships with several global universities that have deep expertise in AI. A long-time active philanthropist, most recently in 2025,Jim partnered with Harvard Medical School to lead and drive AI-driven precision medicine.

Jim received his BS from Stanford University and his MBA from Harvard University where he graduated as a Baker Scholar (top 5%).

Passionate about music,art and film, Jim is a long-time Trustee of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, SFMOMA, and the American Film Institute (AFI).Jim is also a long-time minority owner of the Boston Celtics.
