Bio
Dr. Simone Severini is a physicist and computer scientist focused on how fundamental science becomes transformative technology. He is currently a Distinguished Engineer at Google, following his tenure as General Manager of Quantum Technologies at AWS, where he launched Amazon’s major quantum initiatives, including Amazon Braket, the AWS Center for Quantum Computing, and the AWS Center for Quantum Networking.
With a PhD in quantum information from the University of Bristol and a background in logic and philosophy from the University of Florence, Simone has held research and faculty roles at leading institutions including UC Berkeley, Cambridge, UCL, and IQC Waterloo. He has co-founded startups like Phasecraft and Q&I, and advised early quantum ventures including Cambridge Quantum Computing (now Quantinuum).
Simone blends deep theoretical insight with a passion for building real-world systems helping shape the future of computing from both the lab and the boardroom.
